Sleep better – a good night’s sleep is key to starting the next day refreshed and relaxed

Germany celebrates the "Day of Sleep" on 21 June – the perfect opportunity to highlight the importance of healthy sleep. Sleep gives us energy and is essential for our health and well-being. However, many people have problems sleeping. To remedy this, there are some useful tips that can help ensure you get a restful night's sleep and start the next day refreshed and relaxed.

Sleep lets us recover, regenerate, repair tissue and cells and recharge our batteries. When we sleep, we process new experiences and impressions more intensely than during the day. People who sleep well lose weight more easily and improve their mental and physical fitness. Restorative sleep also strengthens our immune system, ensures mental balance and improves our organ and metabolic functions.

Sleep problems and sleep disorders can have a variety of physical and mental consequences. Poor sleep often manifests itself in symptoms such as daytime sleepiness and a lack of drive, irritability, mood swings, problems with concentration and attention, headaches and metabolic disorders. However, there are some simple methods that we can use to improve the quality of our sleep.

1.) Fall asleep more easily: People who have difficulty falling asleep should not put themselves under undue pressure to drift off. In many cases, the more you focus on it, the harder it becomes. Instead, it's better to relax and let your thoughts flow. Evening sleep rituals such as relaxation exercises, a warm bath, gentle music and avoiding alcohol, nicotine, heavy meals and digital media will also help you to fall asleep. As a result, you can establish a regular sleep rhythm in no time at all.

Our tip: Why not fall asleep to your favourite scent? An aroma diffuser such as the LA 40 fragrances the room with water-soluble aroma oils and creates a calming atmosphere together with the subtle colour-changing light.

2.) Sleep through the night better: An optimal indoor climate and a comfortable sleeping environment can help you get a good night's sleep.
A comfortable mattress, darkened windows, peace and quiet and a pleasant room temperature between 18°C and 22°C are important for sleeping peacefully through the night. Additionally, a humidity level of between 40 and 60 per cent is ideal. Clean, pure air promotes peaceful sleep. The Beurer air humidifiers and air purifiers provide the very best climate for sleeping during the night. What's more, people with allergies will be pleased to hear that pollen, bacteria, animal hair and domestic dust don't stand a chance. Your nose and mucous membranes are also prevented from drying out during the night.

3.) Wake up better: Who among us likes being abruptly woken from our sleep by a screaming alarm clock? It doesn't have to be that way!

After a restful night's sleep, you can wake up gently with a wake up light such as the Beurer WL 75, which simulates the colours of a sunrise. The light gradually becomes brighter, signalling to the brain that it is time to get up. This reduces the production of sleep hormones such as melatonin. Lively wake-up melodies such as bird song or your favourite radio station help you to get an active start to the day. As a result, you wake up naturally in harmony with your own personal sleep rhythm.

Our tip: Thanks to their sunset function, wake up lights are also great at helping you fall asleep. This makes them tried-and-tested, 2-in-1 helpers that create a relaxed ambience for falling asleep and waking up!

On the "Day of Sleep", everyone should remember how important it is to get a good night's sleep. If we take the right measures, we can significantly improve our quality of sleep as well as our health and well-being.
